ISLAMIC HEALING رقية

RUQYAH

Ruqyah in Islam is the recitation of the Quran seeking the refuge in Allah, remembrance and supplications that are used as  a means of treating sicknesses  and other problems as the Quran is a source of healing.

Ruqyah means reciting Qur’an and saying supplications reported from the Prophet ﷺ over the sick seeking to be cured; in addition to other good and lawful supplications.

It has very good curing effects.

The Prophet ﷺ used to recite over the sick and so did the Sahabah (Companions of the Prophet).

Performing Ruqyah and supplicating for a sick person is one of the means for healing; using the supplications reported from the Prophet ﷺ are causes to bring healing.

This can be done to cure evil eye, possessions of Jinn, envy and magic. The secret behind this is that one puts his full trust, reliance  and dependance in Allah, the source of all healing and cure.

How to perform Ruqyah:

You can recite Ruqyah on yourself by gathering the palms of your hands and reciting in them the ruqyah and then blow in your hands and wipe area that is ill and hurting you.

You can also bring zam zam water preferably and recite 3, 5 or 7 times the following over it and blow every time you recite it:

  • Al Fatiha.
  • Ayatul Kursy.
  • the last 2 verses of Suratul Baqarah.
  • the last 3 Surah of the Quran. You can add to that any Prophetic Dua’a and blow on it.(Surah Al-Ikhlas ,Surahs Al-Falaq and Al-Nas)

The Significance of Last Two Verses of Surah Al Baqarah

These two are truly the cosmic verses of the Qur’an. For they were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, not on the Earth but up above the seven heavens on the occasion of Me’raaj. Let us try to understand the significance of these two beautiful verses of the glorious Qur’an.

The Blessings of Aayat al-Kursiy

Ayat-ul-Kursi is verse 255 of Surah Al-Bqarah and is related to Allah’s throne. This Quranic verse has many blessings and is used for ruqyah treatment, the treatment of evil eye, black magic, and also for general and comprehensive protection.

The Blessings of Last Verses of Surah Al-Baqarah

The last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah are one of the most memorized and recited Quranic verses among Muslims and that is for a good reason. Consider the saying of the prophet (s.a.w.) about the last verses of the Surah.

“Whoever recites the last two verses of Surat al-Baqarah at night, it will suffice him’” (According to Abu Masood al-Ansaari and narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4723; Muslim, 807).

Whoever recites the last two Ayat in Surat Al-Baqarah , they will suffice for him.

AL-BAQARAH.

Surah Al-Baqarah is the longest surah of the Quran and the prophet (s.a.w.) highlighted many of its benefits in general and some of its specific benefits. For example, the prophet (s.a.w.) told us that its recitation in a house keeps the Satan away. Abu Hurayrah reports that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.) said: “Do not make your houses like graves, for the Shaytan runs away from a house in which Surat al-Baqarah is recited”.

As most of the spiritual ailments such as evil eye, jinn possession, and black magic are satanic in nature, keeping Satan away can also help both in the treatment of such conditions and as a preventive measure.

Ruqyah has to be made using Qur’an and good supplications with the hope that Allah accepts and makes it beneficial.

Jibreel عليه السلام used to do ruqyah for the Prophet ﷺ and say: .

بسم الله أرقيك ,من كلّ شيء يؤذيك ,من شر كلّ نفس أو عين حاسد ,الله يشفيك, بسم الله أرقيك

In the name of Allaah I perform ruqyah for you, from everything that is harming you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye may Allaah heal you, in the name of Allaah I perform ruqyah for you."

The person performing Ruqyah should blow breath and recite over the sick Surah Al-Fatihah or some Ayahs (Qur’anic verses), or Ayat-ul-Kursy (the Qur’anic Verse of Allah’s Chair, Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:255), Surah Al-Ikhlas or Al-Mu`awwidhatayn (Surahs Al-Falaq and Al-Nas). However, all the Qur’an is a healing. Say: "It is for those who believe, a guide and a healing."

Conditions for the person (patient) recieving Ruqyah:

1) He must have complete belief that harm and benefit are only from Allah.

2) He must be patient.

May ALLAH protect us from  EVIL and anything that if not 5eir for Us :)
